Join us for an engaging and enlightening educator workshop on the realm of epigenetics. Epigenetics delves into the intricate molecular mechanisms that control gene expression and how these changes can be inherited and influenced by environmental factors. EPIC is designed to empower educators with an understanding of epigenetics and equips them with tools and strategies to bring this current content into their classrooms.

Workshop Highlights:

SuperModels: Challenge traditional concepts of genetic determinism by highlighting the role of environmental factors and molecular mechanisms in influencing gene expression and hereditary of traits.

Hands-on Epigenetics Kits: Get acquainted with the newly developed educational kits that provide interactive materials for students to explore DNA methylation and histone modification, fostering a deeper understanding of epigenetic mechanisms, gene expression, and gene regulation. Take home two new kits!! Yes, two.

Epi-Adaptation Tales: Delve into captivating stories of how epigenetic changes have contributed to the adaptation of species to their environments, unveiling the dynamic interplay between genetics and epigenetics in shaping function.

Join us in unraveling the mysteries of the tiny molecules that influence gene regulation.

All workshop materials, boxed lunches, and snacks are included with your registration. Participants can earn 6 hours of PowerSchool PD credit and will take home pilot versions of kits developed by HudsonAlpha and Southern Research.

Workshop fee for nonmembers is $50.
